Oshima Renovation

Sunday, March 16, 2008

Oshima, one of my favorite local sushi places, underwent some renovations recently. When I saw the scaffold up around the storefront I was worried, but luckily the owners posted a note outside explaining that it was only some remodeling and they would be open again soon. The plywood door was open and I got a peek inside, which revealed that they were gutting the entire restaurant. I found this surprising, since the old interior was fine in my opinion.

They are open again now, that the changes are pretty drastic but not anything to write home about. The interior has been rearranged, with the sushi bar moved to the back. This arguably created more seating inside. The main feature though is floor to ceiling glass windows at the front of the store, ala the Santa Fe Grill. The old exterior (still featured on their website) was a little closed off, and hopefully this new look will get more people in the door.
